
Explosion at Maharashtra Ordnance Factory: One Dead, Several Trapped
A significant explosion occurred at the Bhandara ordnance factory in Maharashtra on Friday, January 24, 2025, tragically resulting in one confirmed death. Several workers are feared trapped under the debris following the incident.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that five of the 13 to 14 workers trapped in the roof collapse have been evacuated. Five of them have been safely evacuated. The District Collector and Superintendent of Police are at the scene, and all kinds of assistance are being provided,” the CM said on X.
Rescue and medical teams, including SDRF and Nagpur Municipal Corporation, have been deployed to the site. The CM emphasised that the district administration is coordinating rescue efforts with defence forces and that medical assistance teams are on standby.
A blast occurred at the ordnance factory in Jawahar Nagar Bhandara earlier today. Rescue and medical teams are actively engaged in search and rescue operations.
