Pushpa 2: Extended Cut Fails to Sustain Momentum
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2 is nearing the end of its theatrical run in its seventh week.
Despite a weekend spike in collections following the release of an extended version, “Pushpa 2 Reloaded” on January 17th, the film has witnessed a sharp decline. Monday saw a steep 56% drop, and Tuesday’s earnings were even lower.
The extended cut, featuring 20 additional minutes, increased the film’s runtime to a considerable 220 minutes. While it briefly boosted collections, the downward trend has continued, impacting overall box office performance.
Domestically, Pushpa 2 has amassed Rs 1,229.40 crore. Globally, the film has crossed Rs 1,735.40 crore gross, although a previous statement from Mythri Movie Makers claimed a higher figure of Rs 1,831 crore.
Despite surpassing Baahubali 2, RRR, and KGF: Chapter 2, Pushpa 2 still trails Aamir Khan’s Dangal for the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.
Competition from recent releases like Daaku Maharaaj, Game Changer, and Emergency has further impacted Pushpa 2’s earnings.
